By the declaration that another person will not be allowed to enter trial room in which the third trial will be conducted tomorrow at 10.30 a.m in the 18th Civil Court of General Jurisdiction, Canan Arın is forced to be left alone and unlawfulness maintains.

The fact that 85 women’s organizations in 31 countries and 42 women’s organizations in Turkey are involved in the struggle with Violence Against Women is not “a crime”. We declare once again that we will support Canan Arın and will not leave her alone, alleging “This lawsuit is judging the struggle against male violence.”

Canan Arın attended a meeting which was held by the Union of Turkish Bar Association on 4th of December, 2012 in Antalya as a lecturer. In order to highlight the fact that early marriages have been an issue and a custom throughout the history she mentioned a marriage of the prophet of Islam hundreds of years ago and that of Abdullah Gül, the President of Republic of Turkey. As Canan Arın was targeted by some male lawyers because of these examples, she is being judged for “insulting the prophet of Islam”.

Canan Arın and women who are struggling against male violence are not only judged but also threatened in the lawsuit. In the 2nd trial, Sivas incident was referred to and Canan Arın and her representatives were clearly threatened and forced to be silenced. The fact that the judge didn’t even record the testimonies officially and file a complaint is both concerning and an indication that the opening and proceeding of the lawsuit violates the laws.

We call for participation of all women’s organizations, the representatitives of media and NGOs as observers in the trial tomorrow.
