Warning about CEDAW!

United Nations required Turkey to adhere to CEDAW (Convention to Eliminate Discrimination Against Women). 6th term country report of Turkey was submitted to the committee by the government delegation on July 21st. It has drawn attention to the fact that the Committee had taken a “Shadow Report” prepared by Women’s Platform for the Reform of the Turkish Penal Code and CEDAW Civil Society Executive Committee into consideration and that it asked questions to the government delegation. The government was requested to make provisions for violence against women, women employment and education in mother tongue without delay. Also, a thematic report on the problems of disabled women has been submitted to the committee by Turkey for the first time. CEDAW convention that was also signed by Turkey is one of the foremost documents of the United Nations related to elimination of discrimination against women.
